UCSD Panhellenic Scholarship
As UCSD Panhellenic sorority members, we take pride in our membership in a sorority; however, we realize that academics come FIRST! Panhellenic views scholarship as an integral part of the greek community at UCSD. UCSD is a highly recognized scholastic community and, as sorority members, we strive to not only maintain that academic integrity, but to boost it as well! For this reason, the Panhellenic System works to create an environment for scholastic achievement and reaching our goals! We strive to promote an interest and concern for academics through the implementation of programs like the annual Scholarship Banquet, quarterly study breaks during finals week, and announcements during chapter meetings to keep chapters aware of their academic standing in comparison to other panhellenic sororities and other UCSD students. Panhellenic is proud to announce that our chapters overall GPAs have exceeded those of the All-Women GPA and All-Student GPA for several quarters in a row. Our main goal is to remind the members of the greek community that while we are here to be philanthropic, raise money for various charities, and experience the bonds of sisterhood, we are first and foremost UCSD students and we must keep our focus on our academic achievements and goals.
Each sorority at UCSD has programs in place to recognize outstanding scholars and promote the importance of academics. Every chapter has a delegated officer solely in charge of scholarship within their own sorority to create programs to encourage academic achievement. Additionally, each quarter there is a Panhellenic scholarship meeting to discuss and evaluate programs that will be the most successful in improving grades on an individual chapter and all-Panhellenic level. Some of the many programs sororities participate in are: chapter study hours, archived test files, rewards for A’s, study buddies, tutors, study groups by major, awards for achievement, rewards for going to class, and MORE!!
Not only does each chapter, individually, have a program that monitors and promotes academic success, but the Panhellenic system as a whole works together to achieve excellence in academics! Some of the ways we promote scholarship include:
• The Greek system comes together to study for midterms and finals
• Every finals week, there is a Greek-sponsored Study Break for everyone studying in Geisel Library with pastries and breakfast foods, energy drinks, coffee, and pizza!
• Every quarter, girls who received 4.0’s are recognized by the Panhellenic Executive Board in their chapter meeting
• Every quarter, the sororities that have the highest average grades in the Panhellenic System are recognized
• All chapters that achieve a GPA above the all UCSD All Student Average and the UCSD All Women’s Average are recognized
• There is a Greek-sponsored Excel Leadership Conference which features specific workshops aimed at promoting scholarship at UCSD and positive programming for our Panhellenic scholars in the future.
• There is an annual Scholarship Banquet that recognizes individuals for outstanding academic success (Scroll down to see some of this past year’s amazing scholars and the awards they received)
• Plus, much more to come…

Panhellenic Scholarship Events
Greek Study Breaks are an event that members of the greek community look forward to during the grueling days of finals week. Panhellenic and IFC provide free food such as pizza, muffins, energy drinks, cookies, and bluebooks on library walk to help de-stress and re-energize the greek students at UCSD.
The Scholarship Banquet is put on every year at the end of Spring quarter. This event is meant to honor the members of Panhellenic and IFC for their academic acheivments. Some of the award categories include: provost honors for a full year, most improved, sscholar-athletes, and even some superlative faculty awards.
