  • Philanthropy

    What is Philanthropy?

Philanthropy is the act of improving the welfare of those less fortunate than us. Panhellenic holds and participates in many exciting events to raise awareness of important issues and to pursue a well rounded college atmosphere.

How does Panhellenic do philanthropic work?

We hold our own philanthropic events, and we help support the philanthropies of individual chapters. We have annual fundraising events, like our Flour Power Bake Sale and Greek Week, and we inform the Greek community of service and volunteer opportunities through local organizations.

    What is Panhellenic's chosen Philanthropy?

The UCSD Panhellenic Council’s chosen philanthropic organization is the Friends of Scott Foundation. They provide support and advocacy to children and families suffering from the effects of cancer. To learn more go to http://www.friendsofscott.org/index.html.

    Greek Week

What Greek Week is All About:

Greek Week strives to not only celebrate Greek unity but to raise awareness about the Greek community. This is our time to come together, support each other, and make a positive difference in the community. UCSD Greek Week is an annual competition where sororities and fraternities are grouped into teams and compete in various relay games, singing, dancing and other competitions over the course of one week. The purpose of Greek Week is to raise funds for a charity of choice and bring our large Greek community together.

Many of the week's events will provide an opportunity for the greek community to engage in healthy competition. The chapters from the Panhellenic Council, Interfraternity Council, and Multicultural Greek Council are organized into teams composed of three or four chapters each. The chapters will be awarded points for the events they attend and the teams will compete against each other for points in each event. It's a time for greek men and women to work together as teammates and to get to know people outside of their organizations. Panhellenic looks forward to celebrating the amicable dynamic of UCSD Greek Life.

  • GREEK WEEK 2011!

The next Greek Week will be held in Winter Quarter of 2011. Look for updates on themes, teams, and events soon!

    Teams

Teams will be created by pairing off all of UCSD's sororities and fraternities. The teams will then be assigned themes, which will be used in events, t-shirt designs, competitions, and other Greek Week happenings. We are currently working on creating teams, which will be announced when we get closer to next year's Greek Week.

    Events

The events of Greek Week 2011 will include opportunities to fundraise, volunteer in the community, and make new friends in other UCSD chapters. Participation in events will earn teams points towards the overall competition. Look for updates soon!

The cause that the proceeds from Greek Week 2011 will be supporting has not been decided yet. If you have a cause you'd like us to consider, suggestions can be sent to Rochelle at VPofService@gmail.com.
