General Information

  • What is Formal Recruitment?

Formal Recruitment occurs every fall at UCSD in the first weeks of school.  It is a time for women who are interested in joining the Greek Community to come out and meet Nine Panhellenic Chapters in a formal setting. Each night is filled with different activities and memorable conversations to see where one feels the most comfortable and if the Greek System is the right fit.

Each night, women are paired up into groups and led to each chapter by their Sigma Rho Chis, also known as, a Sorority Recruitment Counselors. Each group has 2 Sigma Rho Chis. Sigma Rho Chis are members of the Greek System who temporarily disaffiliates from their chapters in order to help potential new members through the recruitment process.

What Does the Greek Community Have to Offer?

Joining a sorority at UCSD is a unique experience in which diverse women are able to come together to create a special bond that surpasses any local student organization; it is a sisterhood that stretches across the nation and over many years of tradition.  It offers academic support, genuine sisterhood, countless leadership and philanthropic opportunities, lasting friendships, and so much more.

University of California, San Diego is such a large campus with such a strong diversity student body that becoming Greek helps one become part of a smaller community.  Being able to walk around campus and recognize smiling faces helps to create the college experience one that will never be forgotten.  Anyone who has gone Greek will tell you that it was the greatest decision of their college career.
