Epsilon Iota, University of California at San Diego

Delta Gamma's primary purpose is to create an environment for its members in which lasting friendships are established and in which members find the processes, the experiences and the disciplines that will stimulate clear thought. Its aim is to foster an atmosphere in which women will develop a deeper love and consideration for mankind, a more profound understanding of the purpose of life and a basic wisdom upon which to build their lives. Our chapter strives to live
up to the goals of the national fraternity.

The ladies of Epsilon Iota, pride themselves on their commitment to fostering high ideals of friendship, promoting educational and cultural interests, creating a true sense of social responsibility, and developing the finest qualities of character. Our symbol is the anchor, which stands for hope, and it has become a symbol we wear proudly and close to our heart. Our colors are bronze, pink and blue, and we are the first and only sorority to have a flower named after
them: the Delta Gamma cream-colored rose.

"Do Good" is still the basis of our fraternity, and has become a resonating voice in our endeavors towards Service for Sight, the first nationally established philanthropic foundation. As strong leaders in the UCSD Greek community, members of Delta Gamma coordinate and participate in annual fundraising events such as Anchor Splash (a synchronized swimming contest), Disco Roller Rink Night, an on campus Jeans Sale to give back to the community. Every year, Delta Gamma's volunteer over 96,000 hours and raise over $1 million dollars nationally.

As Dee Gee's, we believe that in order to be successful, a balance between working hard and having fun is the best approach. We have applied this mindset and have been rewarded by being winners of the Sisterhood Award, Alumnae Relations, Chapter President, and Sophomore Emerging Leader. However, our involvement is not limited to the Greek community here at UCSD. We pride ourselves for our diversity and our ability to outreach through campus involvement ranging anywhere from Associated Students to Resident Advisors to TA's and tutors on campus.

Friendships come and go, but memories last forever and Delta Gamma extends their friendship and wonderful memories to you. In Delta Gamma you can find many things: a roommate, a study date, a party date, and a best friend –whatever you are looking for, Delta Gamma's

warm hearts will always welcome you. We look forward to meeting you during Fall Recruitment 2009!
