Iota Nu, University of California at San Diego

The Iota Nu chapter of Alpha Chi Omega is looking for members to add to the chapter’s spirit and diversity this Fall, and we all can agree that joining a Greek organization has truly changed our lives for the better. Alpha Chi is like joining ten different campus organizations in one, and the opportunities offered to our women have encouraged our personal growth and involvement on campus that has made us love our time here at UCSD.

Being an Alpha Chi allows us to fully appreciate the “college experience.” Many of our social programs like quarterly formals, themed exchanges with fraternities, and sisterhood trips are designed to help our members let loose from the academic rigors of UCSD while creating lasting bonds between sisters. If you are looking to join a sorority because of the incredible and unique opportunities it can bring to your college experience or to find lifelong friends and grow as an individual with the support of a group of women looking to do the same thing, we can guarantee that Alpha Chi Omega can offer it all.

Alpha Chi Omega was founded in 1885 by seven young women at the DePauw University School of Music and many of our chapter traditions reflect our founding interest in the fine arts. Our symbol, the golden lyre, is a tribute to the musical pursuits of the ancient Greeks, and was the first instrument played on Mount Olympus. Our colors, scarlet red and olive green, reflect our chapter’s beloved flower, the red carnation, and the three stars located on our crest also hold a special and symbolic meaning to our members.
Alpha Chi Omegas across the country share the bond of sisterhood by celebrating our national traditions, adhering to our five membership standards and living the teachings of the Symphony of Alpha Chi Omega.

    Chapter Facts

The Iota Nu chapter of Alpha Chi Omega started at UCSD in 1992 and has been growing in size and achievement ever since. The philosophy behind our chapter’s programming can be found in our motto “Together Let Us Seek the Heights” as we encourage each other to constantly become better women and sisters.
Nationally, the Alpha Chi Omega Foundation supports local efforts to help women who are victims of domestic violence, and every year our chapter is proud to put on our fundraiser, Mr. Alpha Chi to benefit this incredible cause. Mr. Alpha Chi, a male talent pageant featuring men from fraternities, sports teams and other campus organizations, is one of the most widely attended and profitable fundraising event held by any chapter in the Greek system. Our chapter is so proud to be able to have fun coaching our contestants while raising money to the Oceanside Women’s Resource Center, an amazing local shelter for women who are victims of domestic violence.
For our sisters, Alpha Chi Omega is synonymous with opportunity; whether these opportunities are social, academic, professional or personal. Alpha Chi offers these various opportunities to our members in the form of chapter official and unofficial programming ranging from Disneyland sisterhoods to Career Day networking events with local alumnae, and participation in campus events. Our chapter is incredibly proud of our involvement in the Greek Community, as we were part of this years winning Greek Week team and have participated in events with every fraternity and sorority on campus.
